The concept of using alternate materials such as fiberglass as a "reinforcement material" has actually been around since the early 1980s. The "hang-up" had always been the ultimate bond of concrete to this type of material. Widely understood to be stronger (about 300% measured by tensile strength), it always came down to "system" performance - how the reinforcement acted/behaved within Reinforced Concrete.

MST Bar does not "sand" the fiberglass bar as has been the historical norm. Instead, they've developed a way of "crimping" the bar during extrusion (while keeping the fiberglass strands taunt) in a way that delivers a true "deformation" to the bar; each and every time. This is what makes MST Bar stand apart....
Today, we have verifiable 3rd party testing by the nation's leading university engineering departments in quantifying the "modulus of rupture" (a fancy way of measuring the bond of concrete to the fiberglass bar), and the results are truly impressive. We can show with MST Bar's unique "deformations" they're actually twice as strong in bond than conventional 60-grade steel reinforcement. Concrete sticks to MST Bar twice as good as regular rebar!!!
MST GFRP Bar is relevant ~ The manufacturer produces 400,000 linear feet of bar a day; 24/7. And it is stocked in quantity in Southern California.

MST GFRP Bar is currently in the Building Code ~ both ACI 440.11-22 and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification deal with structural design with GFRP reinforcement. Most design software already has ACI 440 values as an option.
